GAASL Annual family day outing 2010!

GAASL has planned the annual family day outing at a picturesque private estate, bordering “Kelani-ganga”, in Kaluaggala, on 4^th September, Saturday from 9.00 am onwards.

We invite all our members and their families and friends to join this occasion, and get to know each other.

The event organizing committee wishes to arrange the lunch, for a nominal fee, and the committee wishes to know the exact number of participants who would attend this event.

The GAASL will be sending the details of the program and the way to reach this place, for all those members who would confirm attendance.

Academic relations and Programs between Germany and Moratuwa University - Opportunities in Research and Academic Exchange

 A meeting with the senior academic Staff of Moratuwa University and Mrs. Christiane Schlottmann,Director, German Academic Exchange Service - (DAAD) Regional Office South Asia, New Delhi and her team and with DAAD representative in Colombo was organised by GAASL and held on May 18, 2010 at 10.00am at the University of Moratuwa.

 In this meeting the DAAD met with the deans and heads of the other departments of the University to discuss the international activities and programs of DAAD and opportunities in research through the future cooperation between DAAD and Moratuwa University.

The discussion areas for this meeting were;

• Introduction: activities and programmes by DAAD with focus on South Asia and Sri Lanka
• The International Relations and Programmes run by University of Moratuwa
• Discussion on opportunities in Research and Academic Exchange and future Cooperation between the University of Moratuwa and DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service)
• Current Academic links with German Universities and the programs worked out

The GAASL looks forward to work with DAAD in future programs. 

Screen printing workshop - GAASL Year 2010 - Successfully Completed!

Screen printing workshop is continued for this year. This year the participants/trainees from Anuradhapura suburban areas made a visit to the factory of Mr. Sarath Mendis at Ragama and they were given a full day training on screen printing process at the Factory. GAASL member Mr. W.W. Soyza, managed to arranged for the transportation of the participants, with the cooperation of National Vocational training Institute in Anuradhapura. This was a successful event during the early part of GAASL Year 2010 and congratulations for the project committee members!

The committee to handle this project consists of GAASL Members, Mr. Sarath Mendis, Mr. Rohan de Alwis and Mr. W.W. Soyza.
